François Gouffier known as the Young person to distinguish it from his/her older brother is wire of Guillaume Gouffier de Bonnivet, admiral de France and of Louise de Crèvecoeur.

He is lord of Crèvecoeur, Bonnivet, Thois, marquis of Deffends etc He takes part in many seats and battles of the Guerres of Italy (Hesdin, Coni, Perpignan, Landrecies, Cérisolles (1544), Metz, Renty, Saint-Quentin), and of religion (Dreux (1562), Saint-Denis (1567)). He is then named knight about Saint-Michel.

In 1577, it is named lieutenant-general in Picardy and preserves this load until in 1586, where it is named Marshal of France.

He belongs to the first promotion of the knights about the Holy Spirit on December 31st, 1578.

He dies on April 24th, 1594, by leaving many children of Anne de Carnazet, married on February 10th, 1544.
