François Gilson , known as Gilson , is a Belgian Scénariste of Cartoon born the November 16th 1965.

Biography

At the school, he attends already Clarke which is in its class with which he creates a fanzine called “ Cafard ”. The direction of the catholic establishment hardly appreciates and expels the two comrades with the first come pretext.

Always with Clarke, it joined later the royal Academy of Beautiful arts of Liege but realizes quickly that contrary to this last, it is not sufficiently gifted in drawing to make another thing of it only a hobby. However, its imagintation to invent scenarios enables him to remain in the field of the cartoon.

It then sends one of its project to one of the heads of the Journal of Spirou, Raoul Cauvin, which, interested, makes follow the file towards the writer of the newspaper of the time, Patrick Pinchart, which encourages Gilson to continue in this way. The draftsman Marc Hardy also gives his support to him and teaches him the strings from the trade.

But in spite of that, it has evil to convince. He essuie of many refusal, works “voluntarily” for the fanzine “ Impayable ” for finally publishing in 1987 its first album with Clarke, his companion of always, “ Rebecca - Good birthday, Papy ”. He leaves then in Germany carried out his military service (having been born over there) and carries out each day the Belgium-Germany return ticket in a postal truck.

Through refusal and of perseverance, he manages to find a small place in the world of the data base and starts to draw for the Spirou magazine. He invents " Africa Jim " with Clarke, a series " stop-trou" telling the stories of an anti-adventurer who exists still today (in the heading " the beacon with cartoon" newspaper).

But it is " Garage Isidore " who becomes his first true series in 1990 and of which he entrusts the drawing, one year after the creation of the project, with Olis.

In 1992, it creates " Mélusine " with Clarke which meets a comfortable success. And since, it creates other successful series at Dupuis like " Cactus Club " with Bercovici.

Currently, he works on a realistic whodunnit. He also says himself tried by the cartoon, he already carried out some scenario of the appearances of Spip (the squirrel of Spirou & Fantasio) on very short films, which were diffused on TF1 within the framework of the emission for morning child In any Spip .

Anecdotes
