François Estienne

François Estienne , third wire of Robert Ier Estienne, French printer.

He embraced the reform his father following the example of, and followed it to Geneva, where he exerted the printing works of 1562 with 1582, in company with François Perrin. He had married Marguerite Cave, of the province of Normandy, and he had of them several children, of which none was made known.

The following works are allotted to him:

  1. Treated dances to which it is shown which are additional and dependences of lewd joke, etc , Paris, 1564, in-8°;
  2. Of the power legitimate of the prince on the people and the people on the prince , written in Latin by Estienne Junius Brutus (Hubert Languet), and translated into French, Geneva, 1581, in-8°. This translation is estimated, and it more is sought than the Latin original.
  3. charitable Remonstrance with the ladies and young ladies of France on their ornaments dissolus , Paris, 1577, in-12; 1581, 1585, in-8°, rare.
