Biography
Nothing in childhood nor in the family circle François Diascorn intended it to follow an artistic road (on the contrary, on the councils of its father professor, it is directed towards a wise and prosperous future via the Institut of political studies (IEP) of the University of Paris. Except for the direction which it always had of the unreality of the life (child, it thought that the world was perhaps only the creation of its own brain, and that if it ceased thinking of it, the ground could disintegrate!).All rocked for him at the time of a voyage at 17 years in Egypt when it met another traveller as him which initiated it with the photography (Pierre Marc Richard which was to thereafter become a specialist in the photography of the 19th century). Another voyage in India in 1969 followed, then a second in the same country two years later. All these voyages stimulated an incipient passion, that to capture in images the unreality of the world - that of which it had been conscious as of childhood - and who, like a therapy, paradoxically allows him to check the reality of the world through the objective of the apparatus. It buys its first cameras in 1971 for its second voyage in India, and since it left more them, except sleeping, and still: its apparatuses are always beside its bed and are used to him as pillow if it must remain in a one-eyed hotel. It also has with its bedside a notebook where it records its dreams (often photographic).
It always initiated and chose itself its subjects - what is equivalent to the acceptance of a certain frugality of existence. Such a eagerness to recreate the world with the image of its vision is paid by a certain loneliness, and that was the case during part of its life. The images rigorously made up of François Diascorn result from a need impassioned to create which has nothing to do with the fashion, success or the money. It continues, as the parents Tziganes whom it had in imagination, to cross the ground, backpack, sleeping in a tent or with the back of its car and photographing all that it meets on the road but with a predilection for certain subjects: the magic animals, animals of the sea, Buddhas and Christs, angels and demons, hospitals and carnivals, trees similar to the human ones, and men who resemble crushed trees, children and clouds, animals, monks and shepherds like his cities or country fetishes: Paris, Venice, Bénarès, India, Egypt, the Greece.
It is through its third eye, the photographic objective, that François Diascorn tries to include/understand it why and it how existence, especially his, while capturing and by showing the beauty and the strangeness of the world. Its life is a permanent voyage which carries out it of a daydream to the other, a search of the transparent and fugitive messages of the vie.
It received many rewards and of purses (in particular and a creation research grant of the Ministry for the Culture for a voyage one year in the USA and a purse Léonard de Vinci for a project in Japan). Its photographs were shown in many galleries and museums in Europe and America and belong to the collections of institutions such as the Fondation Cartier, the National library, the National center of the Visual arts, the European Maison of Photography, the Center Pompidou, the Musée Nicéphore-Niépce with Châlon-sur-saône, the Musée Réattu with Arles.
At the end of the years 1970, François Diascorn belonged to famous the Agence Viva, which gathered for one short period some great names of the thirty last years the French photography (Guy Querrec, Herve Gloaguen, Martine Franck, Claude Raimond-Dityvon, François Hers, William Klein. It is since 1986 member of the arranges Rapho.
