François Delmas
François Delmas (born the August 24th 1913 - died the March 3rd 2002) was a personality French Politique . It was mayor of Montpellier of 1959 with 1977. It belonged to the Republican party.
Lawyer of profession starting from 1938, he is barristers president of the bar of Montpellier in 1976.
Mayor of Montpellier of 1959 with 1977, it managed the population growth and space city, in particular the arrival of repatriates of Algérie. It accommodates IBM with the beginning of the year 1960, and initiates the construction of the shopping mall of downtown area, the Polygon, close to the Place of the Comedy. To the west of the communal territory, it launches a Urban development zone (ZUP, law of 1958) on the field of Paillade.
With the communes of the Agglomeration montpelliéraine, it contributed to the creation of the District of Montpellier in 1965.
It is beaten with the municipal elections of March 1977 by the socialist Georges Frêche.
Appointed first district of the Herault, it is Secretary of State to the Environment of 1978 with 1981 in the third government of Raymond Barre. In 1981, Delmas is beaten with the legislative election by Georges Frêche.
