François Commeinhes is a Politician French born the November 10th 1949 with Sète (Herault). Gynecologist of profession, he is the mayor UMP of the Town of Sète since March 2001.

Elected with more than 52% of the voices vis-a-vis the outgoing Communist, François Liberti, on his arrival with the town hall of Sète, François Commeinhes first of all endeavoured to reabsorb the important debt of the city and to cleanse finances. In 2002, it is presented to the legislative elections on the 7° district under the label UMP. It arrives at the head at the evening of the first turn, but the triangular one with the candidates of union of the left, François Liberti (PCF) and of extreme-right-hand side Jean-Claude Martinez (FN) turns in his discredit. It is finally François Liberti which is elected, for the second consecutive time.

End 2002, it founds the Communauté of agglomeration of the Basin of Thau and in January about it 2003 becomes the president.

2003 is also the year when it presents, for the town of Sète, its " project; Sète 2010". This great project condenses economic development, the urban development, the tourist and cultural vocation and the valorization of natural spaces.

Several great work was completed since its arrival with the head of the city:

• realization of the Walk Marshal-Leclerc

• safeguard and enlarging of the beach " Villeroy"
• repair of many roads and pavements of the town of Sète
• repair of the bridges and the quays
• creation of the Sports complex of the Lido
• creation of free carparks
• creation of a Large Heart of city with the harmonization of the trade and the roadway system by 2008
• enlarging of Space Georges Brassens
• modernization of the schools Agnes Varda and the Rebirth
• installation of the Zone East
• maintenance and valorization of the historic buildings of Sète (Molière Theater, Saint-Louis Church…)
• the project-headlight : Creation of a new district: " VILLEROY"
• safeguard of the " Lido" : natural zone, connecting Sète to Marseillan, touched and threatened by erosion.

Several measurements are taken:

• Reopening of the Tourist office of the city: the latter reached, in 2006, the figures record of frequentation of 150.000 people and 400.000 connections Internet. She, moreover, is classified " 4 étoiles" in 2006 and thus forms part of the 60 more powerful Tourist offices of France.
• Twinning with the Italian city Cetara
• Creation of the " Italiennes" festivals; (taking place at the end of May each year)
• Inauguration of the statue " With the glory of Jouteurs" , trônant on the Royal Channel
• Creation of the " Bars with quai" at the time of the Festivals of Saint-Louis
• additional Introduction one day in Saint-Louis: grand opening.

Parallel to that, it attempts to follow a policy of housing construction (as construction testifies some to the new district " Villeroy").

François Commeinhes announced that it will not be presented to the legislative elections of 2007, preferring to devote itself to the management of the Town of Sète. The candidate of UMP is the mayor of Agde, Gilles d' Ettore. He brings his signature, as an elected official, with Nicolas Sarkozy. At the evening of the second turn, this last arrived largely at the head with Sète, with more than 55%. François Commeinhes is the substitute for Gilles d' Ettore for the legislative elections. This last is elected appointed at the evening of June 17th, 2007.
