Presentation

The characters of François Cointe are not without evoking those of the series Dilbert, but in a way deliberately more expressive however (the phlegm of Dilbert forms integral part of the character of Scott Adams). Its most famous characters are those created on behalf of the publications of group IDG France, in particular Le Monde Informatique. François Cointe published a series of works taking again his cartoons and tuck patterns.

Le Monde Data processing

François Cointe began his collaboration with Le Monde Informatique on December 23rd, 1985 with four drawings in small size in black and white. With the wire of the changes of formulas of this magazine, the collaboration of François Cointe changes form. Les drawings of topicality of François Cointe uses his favorite characters (Cybériens, to see below) as observers but the main actors are those of the topicality, slightly caricatured: the blue elephant for IBM, Bill Gates for Microsoft, of the Gull S for OpenOffice.org, a penguin for the Open Source… Certains attributes of characters has origins which are lost sometimes in the fogs of the History. The strip of the adventures of Cybériens appear later and will be at the origin of several of the albums mentioned below.

Y' has a bug!

Y' has a bug is a collection of cartoons create for Info PC (another publication of group IDG France) of end 1987 at beginning 1988, where they appeared monthly. Philippe Monnin, editor association had made him work over again his project several times for its very professional assistantship.

Pulled by the movement, it publishes some other albums with news, and in 1992, with Le Monde Informatique, it is had a presentiment of to become during famous Zévar of 01 . It starts by articulating it on a principal engineer whom it names Durand . Cybériens

When Cointe realizes that the characters surrounding Durand became more popular than this one, it renames its series Cybériens . It is under this name that it continues today. Cybériens take this name, especially, to take note of the stop of project SIMBAD (Simulation of an Absolutely Irrational Bazaar), Plato module (Plant Always ONE does not know why), after one to that which will lead to the placardisation of the DSI of the team.

“The principle of Cybériens”, indicates Cointe, “it is that the men, them, never change, while at the same time any bulge around them, and than it is because of that they are each time made crush or couillonner”.

Other works

François Cointe also worked for the Echoes , the Monitor , Fashion Daily … It illustrates regularly various publications (newspapers of chambers of commerce, advertizing plates…) and of the books ( the official one of Téléréalité , Mirages and Miracles of technologies the information of Francis Meston, Herve Nora and Rosy Philippe; adventures of the Small Fairy and the Slaughterer of the Lambs of Pierre Béhel…)
