François Cadic

The Abbot François Cadic , writer and folklorist, was born the September 29th 1864 with Noyal-Pontivy (Morbihan), it is deceased the July 27th 1929 with Saint-Jean-Brévelay.

Biography

Resulting from an large family of peasants, it enters to the small seminar of Holy-Anne-in Auray in 1880 before integrating the great seminar of Vannes. It is ordered priest in 1889. After a license of history, he becomes professor with the catholic Institut of Paris. In 1897, it creates the Breton parish in Paris which will count to 40.000 people and in 1899 it founds of it the review of the same name which delivers many useful informations to Breton capital and also of the legends specific to the country of Valves. He wrote many works on the Brittany, gathering his tales and legends and he is regarded as one of best the collector of the oral tradition of Low-Brittany.
