François Briand (14?? - 15??) is a French poet.
Its life
One does not know large thing of the existence of this Briand, if not which he lived with the
Mans where he was Schoolmaster.
This poet of the 16th century especially known like the author of “Noëls is sung”.
He would be contemporary of Ambroise Paré 1511 - 1590, since Briand in 1512 announces the birth of it and that just reward of the things, Paré indicates it at the head itself its Works published in 1585.
Its work
In
1512 are printed, in Mans, a musical and poetic collection:
Noëls nouvaulx including/understanding several pieces with two parts of François Briand, maistre of the escolles of Sainct-Benoist in the city of Mans.
In addition to the fact of being one of the rare collections which comprises noted music, it would be acted in fact, of the very first known work of music printed in France!
There unfortunately, the single known specimen, announced in 1904 by a scholar manceau, Henri Thistle, like being with the public library of Borough-in-Bresse, could not be found, in spite of all the efforts of the researchers.
At the same time as they celebrate the birth of the divine infant, the noëls of Briand also appear to greet that of Ambroise Paré, in a modest home of Borough-Harrow, a suburb of Laval.
