François Borgia

François Borgia (in Spanish: San Francisco de Borja), duke of Gandie, Large of Spain, and 3rd General Superior of the Jesuit S, born with Gandie (Spain), close to Valence, on October 28th 1510, died in Rome on September 30th 1572. He was canonized by the Pape Clément IX in 1671.

Formation and political career

He was the son of Juan Borgia, the 3rd Duke of Gandíe, and Jeanne d' Aragon, girl of Alphonse d' Aragon, Archevèque of Saragossa, which was the illegitimate son of Ferdinand the Catholic (Ferdinand II of Aragon). François was also the back small son of the pope Alexandre VI. He was the largest lord of the Royaume of Valence and enjoys all the favor of Charles Quint, which named it viceroy of the Catalogne. The duke of Lerme, minister of Philippe III of Spain, was his/her small son.

Having lost his wife of which it had had 8 children, it renonça in the world and entered the order of the Jesuits.

In 1565, it was named by it general, in spite of his sharp resistance.

It is honoured the October 10th.
