François Emmanuel Joseph Bazin , born the September 4th 1816 with Marseilles and dead the July 2nd 1878 with Paris, is a French type-setter and pedagog.

It gave several light operas which had success ( Maître Pathelin , the Voyage in China ) and various pieces of music crowned and layman.

It is known mainly for its teaching works including one Cours of harmony theoretical and practical in 1858, followed by a Cours of theoretical and practical counterpoint elaborate when he was professor of composition to the conservatory of Paris and published after its death in 1881.

In 1873, he becomes member of the Institut of France, he rests with the Cimetière of the Father-Lachaise.
