François Bank

François-Beaudire , baron Bank , (Collioure March 11th 1779, Paris May 11th 1832), was a French general.

Entered to the Polytechnic school the 17 brumaire year III, it passed, the 18 brumaire year V, raises second lieutenant with that of artillery of Metz, from where it left, the 13 floréal according to, with the rank of lieutenant as a second, and went to join the portion of the 1st artillery regiment which belonged to has Rmée of England.

Captain of 3rd class the 4th complementary day year VII, it was promoted the 27 floréal year VIII with the 2nd class of his rank in the 4th artillery regiment to foot, and fulfills the functions of Assistance-of-camp near the general Songis until the month of brumaire year X.

Passed in artillery of the consular guard the 15 nivôse of this year, it continued nevertheless its service of assistance-of-camp near its general, called at the same date with the command of artillery of this guard.

The 6 brumaire year XII, the First Consul nominated it major, sub-manager of artillery in the Guadeloupe; but on the authorities of the general Songis, then first artillery inspector, it continued to be useful under his orders and made with him the campaigns of years XII and XIII with the Armée with the coasts of the Ocean. He accepted there, the 25 meadow year XII, the decoration of the Légion of honor and that of officer of the order.

He made with the large army the wars of Germany, Prussia and Poland, year XIV to 1807, and was with the combat delivered under the walls of Ulm the 23,24 and 25 vendémiaire year XIV, with the battles of Austerlitz, Iéna and Eylau. Major the March 21st 1806, and colonel the August 30th 1808, it passed to the Armée with Spain the November 24th as chief of staff of his army, and took, the December 28th the command of the 5th artillery regiment with horse. He fought with Talavera of Reina, where he was wounded of a shot at the right-sided, Almonacid and Ocaña the July 28th, August 11th, and November 18th 1809, and with the passage of the Sierra Morena the January 20th 1810.

Named knight of the Empire the August 15th according to, it had the crossed arm of a ball to the combat of Albufera, the May 16th 1811, and with that of Santa-Martha-with-Villaiba; the June 15th even year; it deserved the cross of commander of the Legion of honor, which to him was decreed the August 6th according to.

Placé à la head of artillery of the army of midday of Spain the April 3rd 1813, it accepted the May 26th the Brigadier general rank of , and took a glorious share with all the businesses which preceded and followed the evacuation of the Peninsula. At the end of this last campaign, it accepted the title of Baron of the Empire; but it took only one weak share with the political and military events of 1814.

Knight of Saint-Louis the August 20th of this year, and named member of the charged commission to determine the classification of the places of war, as well as work of improvement which they could require, it was attached in March 1815 to the staff of the Duc of Angouleme.

After the departure of this prince, it went in the capital, where it accepted the June 6th the command of artillery of the body of cavalry placed under the orders of the marshal Grouchy.

In 1816, it ordered the royal École of application to Metz. Named the December 14th 1822 higher commander of the troops and the material of artillery, the direction of Perpignan and the 4th body of the Armed with the Pyrenees, it made, in this quality, the Campagne of Spain of 1823.
