François Autain

François Autain is a French politician born the June 16th 1935 with Luster-on-Brioux (Two-Sevres).

Biography

Doctor of formation, it is militant with PSU before joining the PS in 1974, at the time of the Assises socialism.

He was elected senator of Loire-Atlantique the September 25th 1983, then re-elected the September 27th 1992 and the September 23rd 2001. He sits among the group Communiste, republican and citizen and is member of the French group of the interparliamentary Union.

He was Questeur and Secretary of the Senate before. He was also member of the Court of justice of the Republic

He was Secretary of State near the Minister for the national solidarity, charged with the immigrants, then Secretary of State near the Minister for Defense in the Gouvernement Pierre Mauroy of 1981 with 1983.

Old socialist, the parity “threatened” its re-election in 2002; it was thus presented under the label of MRC.
