François Amable Ruffin is a Major general First Empire. It was born the August 31st 1771 with Bolbec and died the May 15th 1811.

Biography

Captain of the company of the volunteers of Bolbec, is named ordering 7th Bataillon of the Seine-Lower on September 20th 1792. It illustrates in the battles of the Revolution then Empire (Bataille of Austerlitz in 1805 and Bataille of Heilsberg in 1807) in particular with Friedland in 1807, which is worth to him the title of count of the Empire and the Major general rank of . It is illustrated during the war of Spain and, wounded with the battle of Chiclana close to Cadiz on March 5th 1811, it is made prisoner and dies during his transfer on the Gorgon to Portsmouth (the United Kingdom) of the continuations of its wounds on May 15th. It receives British army the military honors.

Its name is reproduced on the Triumphal arch in Paris.
