Fréquence3

Fréquence3 is a French-speaking Webradio. With peaks with more than 4000 simultaneous listeners, it is, in 2007, the first Webradio associative Frenchwoman in term of audience.

History

In 1998, Alexandre Martinat diffuses saturdays evenings a weekly emission. It is formed around him a group moved by the realization of a radio 24:00 /24.

Fréquence3 is born on April 15th, 2001 in music on the initiative of the preceding group, on the basis of first Webradio named Europe3. It was then famous Fréquence3, the first name being already deposited. At that time, only 30 listeners can listen to the radio simultaneously. Some emissions compose the grid of the programs and the first covered events proceed on Internet.

In 2002, the radio develops on the technical plan with the appearance of new waiters of listening. The antenna leaves its Studio S to cover events in outside (LANs), and accommodates its first guests. The interactivity is reinforced with the possibility for the listeners of calling on line. Fréquence3 association, based in Belgium, is repatriated in France.

In 2003, the station diversifies its guests and the covers of events (musical festivals, LANs, events Internet…). In 2006, Fréquence3 covered the Gamers Assembly with 68 hours of direct, the Solidays and the Vieilles Plow.

It is one of the 15 webradios which founded the March 14th 2006 the national association of the webradios France Webradios for a better recognition of their media.

Fréquence3 launched the June 21st 2006 the second flow musical, “Only 90' S”, with a program only composed of titles of the Années 1990.

In October 2006, Fréquence 3 obtains well a national diffusion beyond its diffusion via the Frequence3.fr gate through channel 99 proposed on the service Freebox of Free.

Since the February 15th 2007, Fréquence3 ensures the diffusion of the radio of the University of journalism of Paris. Called “Frequency ESJ” it takes again the programming of his/her Fréquence3 big sister by adding information and a shifted universe.

The March 3rd 2007, association moves its studios in the middle of the ESJ of Paris gathering all its activities in larger buildings.

The July 2nd 2007, Alexandre Martinat resigns of his functions of director of antenna. It is Alexis Thiebaut, then coordinator of antenna, which replaces it with the direction of antenna.

An associative webradio

Fréquence3 is made up of a team of voluntary, adherent people of association. The contributions represent the first source of revenue of the webradio since it does not diffuse publicity.

The members of association developed their own magazine, treating as well topicality of the radio as the musical topicality, “Fréquence3: the webzine”. In the past named “Fréquence' Mag”, it had, following the example radio, to change name with its sixth number for problems of rights. The Webzine adds up more than 75.000 remote loadings in two years of existence.

Programming

The musical programming is mainly pop/rock'n'roll and dance, approaching radios like NRJ and Europe 2 with any time a higher proportion of titles known as “golds”. The radio, because of its international diffusion and of its strong audience abroad, put mainly on the emissions known as of flow (much music, few interventions).
