Geographical and demographic description

The fourth district of the Eastern Pyrenees is delimited by the electoral Découpage of the law n°86-1197 of the November 24th 1986 , it gathers the following administrative divisions:

• Canton of Argelès-sur-mer,
• Canton of Arles-on-Tech,
• Canton of Céret,
• Canton of Vermilion Coast,
• Canton of Elne,
• Canton of Prats-of-Mollo-the-Swift,
• Canton of Thuir.

According to the general Census of the population in 1999, carried out by the National institute of the Statistics and Economic studies (INSEE), the total population of this district is estimated at 103320 habitants^, .
