Fourth district of Herault

The fourth district of Herault is one of the 7 French legislative districts which account the department of the Herault (34) located in area Languedoc-Roussillon.

Geographical and demographic description

The fourth district of Herault is delimited by the electoral Découpage of the law n°86-1197 of the November 24th 1986 , it gathers the following administrative divisions: Canton of Aniane, Canton of Caylar, Canton of Claret (less communes of Garrigues and Countryside), Canton of Clermont-l' Herault, Canton of Ganges, Canton of Gignac, Canton of Lodève, Canton of Lunas, Canton of Matelles, Canton of Montpellier-8, Canton of Pignan, Canton of Saint-Martin-of-London.

According to the general Census of the population in 1999, carried out by the National institute of the Statistics and Economic studies (INSEE), the total population of this district is estimated at 157843 habitants, .
