Four times

The Four Times are the main thing Shopping mall Quartier of businesses of Defense, in the western suburbs of Paris, on the territory of Puteaux.

History

In 1970, a first project “Head Defense” was implemented, the study was carried out by the architect Ieoh Ming Pei. He proposed to build a tower in the axis of the triumphal arch, as well as a shopping mall of 200.000 m ². The project was not finally carried out in the state, but it however was decided in 1972 to build a shopping mall.

The architects Lagneau, Weill and Dimitrijevic were in charge of the construction of the shopping mall, which was finished in 1981. The center then has 110.000 m ² of trade. At the beginning, it was expected that the shopping mall shelters shops of luxury and a store " Printemps". Finally, there were no shops of luxury but shops of great consumption, and it is a hypermarket " Auchan " who will be established at Four Times, out of two levels.

Four Times are the second French shopping mall by the turnover (735 million euros in 2006) behind Vélizy 2. They ambitionnent to take the first place of the classification at the conclusion of work of enlarging and restoration.

It should be noted that the center is in this moment in full restoration, the public corporation of installation of defense (EPAD), having wished to modernize it. Thus have just been open to the public a new front which it night takes several harmonious colors, like " the dôme". Completely integrated into the center, it constitutes of it the 3rd stage with Toys' R custom of a surface of 4.000m ² (largest of Europe). This dome comprises 22 Restaurant S (in particular traditional the Starbuck' S and Paradis of the fruit) as well as new a Multiplexe UGC Ciné Quoted of 16 rooms, which ambitionne to become the 3rd Cinéma of France by the frequentation. This cinema had the honor to be visited by several " guest stars" , with the image of Tom Cruise, come for the opening to make the promotion of the film " Mission: Impossible III". A store Castorama is in construction in the place of the old cinema UGC and several restaurants.
