Four neighbors and a burial alias Irony of fate ( Pile ) is the first episode of the Televised series Desperate Housewives , written by Marc Cherry and carried out by Charles McDougall. It was diffused for the first time at the the United States the October 3rd 2004 on ABC.

Summary

This first episode starts with the description of the ordinary day of Mary-Alice Young, in the middle of Wisteria Lane, suburbs chews Fairview. The latter tells her day by presenting it as one day ordinary where she cooked for her family, makes some commississions, conveyed its projects in progress and cleaned its house. However, after these tasks, it was saisait of a Revolver which had never used to put an end to its days, by drawing a ball in the head. Its body was discovered by Martha Huber, which had always been interested by what occurred in the life from others. When she heard the noise of the blow of revolver, she carried the mixor that Mary-Alice had borrowed six months to him before and started to run towards the house of Young where she discovered the body of the latter. She turned over to in order to calling her an ambulance but she learned soon that it is too late.

The Funérailles of Mary Alice were organized a few days later. After those, all the close relations of late were invited to take a meal, prepared by each one of them. Among the close relations, his/her best friends appear: Lynette Scavo, a former businesswoman who had given up her career in order to deal with her truths Jumeau X, under the councils of her husband, Tom. Lynette, today mother of four children is obliged to order his chicken roasted in a Fast-food in order to be able to control his/her hyperactive children, whereas her husband is constantly in business trips. Then Gabrielle Solis came, which brought a Paëlla. Before moving in Wisteria Lane, Gabrielle was Mannequin with New York, which had married Carlos, a rich man. These two last marièrement quickly, at the end of the third go, and decided to move in suburbs. The third woman to arrive at the house of Mary-Alice Young was Bree Van de Kamp. Marc Cherry, the creator of the series describes it like a " Martha Stewart " and like a parody of his/her own named mother Martha. Bree seems to have a perfect residence but it is not the case of its family life. The last friend to arrive was Susan Mayer, which had brought a gratin of Macaroni S. Divorcé for one year her husband, Karl who had left it for his secretary, Susan lives with her daughter, Julie of which it could have the guard.

Susan joined the three other women around a table and remembered of an event of one year ago, whereas she had sat in the same place and while Mary-Alice poured Café to him, during which she announced her Divorce with Karl. Bree announced at this time that it was for this reason that it took courses of shooting and Lynette joked by saying that it did not want to see the man who made him four children in the four years space. She returned to her spirits when Bree recalled him that Paul Young their required to clean the cupboard of Mary Alice. The four women wondered then why the latter committed suicide. Paul listened to their discussion, hidden behind a wall, with a strange glance on his face. Later, Susan surprises somebody about to eat its meal and advises it not to start. Lynette ran there and claimed with his/her children to leave the swimming pool, which they refused. It then gave the baby to the priest and entered the swimming pool, with its dress of mourning. Then, it caught her children, presented its condolences to Paul and left.

The four women turned over to it, still under sorrow.

Gabrielle is in anger against her husband, Carlos, it does not wish to go to the business dinner envisaged for the evening because of the owner of Carlos, who does not stop touching the buttocks to him. But he answers him that he is done much money with him and that in counterpart, he had the right to touch his buttocks. Carlos left the house by preventing John to mow the grass. The latter answered him that it would make it when it will have finished what it is making and Gabrielle required of John to come in the kitchen so that it puts a bandage to him on its cut. Bree and its family take their meals silently the evening. His/her children, Andew and Danielle comment on her dishes, judging them " étranges" and Andrew requires of him to have simple meals. Upset, Bree requires of her husband, Rex to intervene and say something but this last is just satisfied to require salt. The next evening, Bree decides to take along its family to a restaurant to the topic of Cow-boy. Whereas Danielle and Andrew are absent from table, Rex required, in an off-hand way, the Divorce and Bree seemed upset when this last described its recent behavior towards him. She moved then towards the dresser to make use of two salads. Whereas Martha Huber, it ausis presents, had joined it and started to speak with it, Bree put accidentally Oignon S, whereas Rex in is mortally allergic. This last started to eat and disappears. To the hospital, Bree went in the room of Rex to explain to him why it had made an error by putting onions in salad of Rex. Again upset, Bree pretexted that the flowers miss water to move away towards the bathroom. Over there, she cried during five minutes, in silence but arose fresh and smiling.

Lynette continued to be stressed by his/her infernal children, with the supermarket. Its twin sons, To carry and Preston, moved away from the carriage and Lynette left to their research. It then met a former colleague who announced to him that it missed with the company and by asking him how was the statute of mother to the hearth. Lynette lied by saying that it is " best work than it has eu" , by knowing that she did not like this statute. The conversation ended when Porter and Preston reversed an old woman with a carriage. Edie could nevertheless leave the house in flames without being wounded but his/her boyfriend had to be hospitalized. Soon, Susan is joined by Mike who asks him what occurred. She made a sigh of relief when she learned that it was not with Edie and ceased making feel guilty, thinking that all was well, for her at least.

The following afternoon, the four women emptied the wall cupboards of Mary Alice, reflect the cases in a car and decided to carry a toast in its honor, glass of Vin to the hand. However, a little later an open and received envelope the day of died of Mary Alice fell from the businesses of the latter. Gabrielle withdrew the letter to unfold a short letter of it where is printed the following words: I know what you did, that disgusts me, I will say it. ( I know what you did, it makes me sick, i' m going to Tel. ).

The four women remained perplexed then, as if the letter were partly the reason for the suicide of Mary Alice. The camera made a slow back zoom, centering the women in the middle of the street.

Original version

In the original version, not diffused, Mary Alice Young is played by Sheryl Lee, Rex Van de Kamp by Michael Reilly Burke and John Rowland by Kyle Searles.

The credits are also different: During the first minute, simple a Desperate Housewives is posted with the sight on Wisteria Lane. At the end of the episode, with the place that there is a back zoom, the phantom of Mary Alice is held with the perron of the house. Moreover, at the origin, Mary Alice Young was to be called Mary Alice Scott but it was changed before the turning of the episode.
