Four days of Dunkirk

The Four days of Dunkirk indicate a cycle race by stages organized in the area of Dunkirk in the Northern .

This test cyclist was created in 1955 by a team of impassioned taken along by Rene Quillot. As opposed to what its name indicates, it disputes over five days in six stages (it was called " Grand Prix of Primerose" Dunkirk-Trophy; at its beginnings).

It is generally held in May and it is with its 53e edition in 2007.

Summary of the payment

This race answers the payment of the stage races of the international Union cyclist (UCI).

It is registered with the calendar UCI Continental Turn for Europe and it applies a points score of it. It is reserved to the cyclists of the categories Hommes Elites of the teams of the UCI PRO TEAM and CONTINENTAL PROFESSIONAL UCI.

Results

Currently, in 2006, this test was gained 22 times by Belgian cyclists, 20 times by French, 4 times by Dutch.

It was gained in 2006 by Roberto Petito, it was the first victory of an Italian runner over this race.

The edition 2007

Edition 2007 is held from Tuesday, May 8, 2007 to Sunday, May 13, 2007. She sees the participation of size like Erik Zabel, but also of the one of the pets of the northerners, namely Cédric Vasseur.

The first stage, a prolog of 9 km, in the town of Dunkirk, was gained by Bradley Wiggins. It thus takes the first place with general classification and obtains the pink shirt of leader.

Second the 190 km long stage 800, connecting the towns of Dunkirk and Saint-Amand-the-Water, was gained by the Pole Piotr Zielinski. The pink shirt of leader returning to the northerner David Boucher. Both gaining this stage had left to the km 20 for an escape 170 km.

The third stage, between Saint-Amand-the-Water and Caudry, was gained with the sprint by Mark Cavendish. The pink shirt of leader remains on the shoulders of David Boucher.

The fourth stage, only stage proceeding in the Pas-de-Calais, is a loop of 200 km on departure and arrival of the prefecture of the Département of the Pas-de-Calais, Arras; Gert Steegmans, escaped with Staff Scheirlinckx and Cristian Murro is essential on arrival. William Bonnet seizes the pink shirt.

The fifth and penultimate stage, connect the towns of Based the and Cassel. This stage is composed of a flat layout, then a circuit around the town of Cassel and its famous mount. It is gained by Matthieu Ladagnous. With general classification, this last is not which has some tenth of the new pink shirt, Dominique Cornu.

The last stage pays homage to the pet of the northerner public Cédric Vasseur. Indeed the departure of the stage takes place in its city Steenvoorde, the runners turn over on the town of Dunkirk; at the entry in the city of Jean Bart, by the play of the allowances, Ladagnous seizes the pink shirt and is proclaimed victorious on arrival. But the end of the stage, disputed under a beating rain, made it possible Cavendish to carry out the master key of two.

4 days of Dunkirk 2008

The edition 2008 will be presented on November 13rd to the seat of the Voice of North in Lille. However it is known already that a stage will take place in Calais, which involves the cancellation of traditional critérium.

On Friday, May 9 the stage will arrive at Calais to probably set out again the following day for the stage of the mounts towards the capital of the Licques poultry
