The Four Majesties or Siyu 四御 are four divinities of the Pantheon of the principal schools Taoïste S. Placés directly under the Pure Three or the Empereur of jade, they represent the four fields of the universe.

Their identity and the distribution of their competences varied with the schools and the times. The jade Emperor was one of them until the Song; he then was promoted emanation of the Three Pure ones and was placed in front of them. In the taoism popular Quanzhen of China, it found its place in the group and thus occupies two functions: emanation of the Three Pure ones and first of the Four Majesties.

The four majesties are:

  • the Emperor of jade; it represents the gods whom it directs. He is celebrated the 9 of the 1st lunar month
  • Ziweibeiji dadi, Empereur of the northern celestial pole , has his seat in the star Ras Algethi in the center of the Chinese zodiac, called “throne”. He represents the sky and governs the world of the stars. Its birthday is the 27 of the 10th month.
  • Gouchenshangong dadi, Emperor of the higher astral house , accounts for the four Astérisme S closest to the northern celestial pole, located on the left Short-nap cloth Algethi. It is the axis of the universe and governs the human events, wars, calamities. He is celebrated the 2 of the 2nd month.
  • Houtu Huangdizhi, Empress of the ground . This goddess bears the name of a former divinity of the ground forming a couple with the god of the sky. She could be represented in male form, but the empress Wu Zetian fixed her female form definitively. The empress Side, wife of the Zhenzong emperor of Song, made him build a temple on the mount crowned of the center. She controls the fluctuations of the Yin and the Yáng, the births and nature. She is celebrated the 18 of the 3rd month
