The Enclos Fouqué is most recent of the Caldeira S formed by the Piton of the Furnace, the active Volcan of the island of the Réunion.
Baptized in the honor of the Geologist French Ferdinand Andre Fouqué, this will caldeira in form of Horseshoe makes nine kilometers broad on thirteen kilometers length.
The walls which overhang it are high from one hundred to four hundred meters. It is of the rampart of Whitewood in north, of the rampart of Bellecombe in the west and about the rampart of Tremblet in the south.
In addition to the Piton of the Furnace strictly speaking, the Fouqué Enclosure shelters many small craters, among which the Formica Leo. It is about the most visible formation of the Pas of Bellecombe, an overhang from which one can start an excursion until a site called Plaine of Osmunds.
From there, it is possible to reach the Indian Ocean by the Great Slopes then the Badly burned person, the littoral zone. This one is crossed by the trunk road which makes the turn of the island. To north, it gives access to the Enclosure since the downtown area of Holy-Rose by the Forêt of Whitewood. To the south, it leads to Saint-Philippe via the Takamaka locality.
