In the middle of the 18th century, the castle of Fountain-Frenchwoman is a strong castle in bad condition. Its owner, Anne Madeleine of the Tower of the Pine will marry François Bollioud de Saint Julien, receiver general of the clergy. Helped of its fortune, this one made demolish the old fortress of its wife and entrusts to Souhard, a Parisian architect, the construction of a new castle. Work lasts four years, of 1754 to 1758.

The architect was based on part of the old building to build his new building. Of classical architecture, the castle of Fountain-Frenchwoman presents clear and symmetrical forms.
