The Foundation for the medical research , or FRM , is a French foundation created in 1947 by the professors Jean Bernard and Jean Hamburger, on a private but recognized management style public utility in 1965. It has the roles of supporting and of financing the public research in all the pathological fields.
The financing of the FRM is only based on the gifts and legacy which it receives. To promote its action near the public and to enable him to call upon the gift in confidence, association adheres to the Comité of the Charter.
History
As of its creation in 1947, Association for the medical research was not limited to the financing of research on a pathology in particular but on the whole of the diseases:
Disease of Alzheimer,
Cancer S,
Infarction,
Leukemia S,
Diabetes,
Multiple sclerosis,
Parkinson's disease, diseases of ageing, infectious illness, orphan diseases. Association acquires the statute of foundation in 1962 following a call to the private assistance signed by 132 researchers and doctors. She is recognized of public utility on May 14th, 1965.
Structure
The board of trustees of the FRM is chaired voluntarily since 1993 by
Pierre Jolly. He defines the strategic choices as regards financing of research thanks to a directory named by the board of trustees, is composed of three members (director of the scientific businesses, director of the development and the communication and administrative director and financier). The FRM employs 26 worker for its operation, but the whole of its authorities is voluntary.
The evaluation of the research projects is carried out by a scientific advice made up of 30 members.
