Foundation GAN for the cinema is a private organization intended to come to assistance of the French cinema, to provide financially for the production and the distribution of films. It also ensures the organization of demonstrations concerning the cinema, as well as the film restoration.

It is a foundation of company creates by Groupama S.A in 1987, at the time of the 40ème Cannes festival. Foundation GAN has a double vocation: " to contribute to the safeguard of the world cinematographic inheritance and to support the development of the contemporary cinema, as well in the field of the production as of the distribution and the exploitation. Its essential action of patronage recognized, taking into account the precarious state of many masterpieces of passed and the difficulties encountered to produce and distribute films of feature-length film, proves also relevant, as well by the quality of its choices as by the forms of supports as it développe."
