The foundation Gabriel Péri was created on the initiative of the French Communist party. Since the July 22nd 2004, it is recognized of public utility.

Objectives

PCF had launched the bases of the creation of the Foundation around two strong ideas:

• the need for an able structure, out of any instrumentalisation, to work to include/understand the recent History, and in particular that of the labor movement and Communist in France, for better apprehending the future;

The need for a space of meeting, confrontation to support the emergence of reflections, proposals useful for the construction of Europe and a democratic world and social progress.

• a political Foundation is the structure which corresponds best to these requirements. It in particular makes it possible to guarantee an independent operation.

The Foundation Gabriel Péri thus gives itself these ambitions of rigor in the scientific work of exploitation of the files, of opening in the meetings which it will organize, and especially to be useful, concretely, with all those and those which are interested in the combat for the human emancipation.

The foundation Gabriel Peri is currently chaired by Robert Hue.
