Foundation Christopher and Dana Reeve

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation (Foundation Christopher and Dana Reeve) is a Charitable organization which sits at Millburn (New Jersey, the United States), of which the goal is to find treatments against the Paralysie S of neurological origin , to improve the living conditions of the people touched while waiting for this treatment, and to collect funds to reach that point.

In 2006, the foundation already states to have allocated more than 64 million dollards to research, and more than 8 million to the improvement of the quality of life of the people reached.

History

Association is founded in 1982 under the name of American Paralysis Foundation (Foundation for the Paralisés Americans).
In 1995, when Christopher Reeve - American actor celebrates and interprets Superman - becomes tetraplegic following a fall of horse, it promises to bring its supports with this organization of which the goal then touches it very close, and its name lends to him. It was then renamed Christopher Reeve Foundation (Foundation Christopher Reeve).
When Christopher Reeve dies on October 10th, 2004 with old 52 years, Dana Reeve, its wife since 12 years and the mother of her last child, continuous to assume the part which she played center the foundation with dimensions of her husband. In August 2005, one diagnosis at Dana Reeve a lung cancer of which she dies on March 6th, 2006 with old 44 years. Shortly after the first birthday of its death, on March 11th, 2007, association is renamed Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation (Foundation Christopher and Dana Reeve).
