Forwarding of Ireland (1798)

The August 22nd 1798, approximately 1.000 French soldiers directed by the general Humbert unload in the North-West of the Ireland, with Kilcummin in the Comté of Mayo. Joined by 5.000 local rebels, they inflict a defeat humiliating (known as the race of Castelbar to commemorate the speed of the retirement of English) with the English with the Bataille of Castlebar.

They install a transitory, known republic under the name of République of Connaught, before being finally beaten with the Bataille of Ballinamuck, in the Comté of Longford, the September 8th 1798. The French troops which had gone are repatriated in France in the prisoner exchange of English war, the Irish rebels are decimated on the battle field.

The October 12th 1798, an important French force of 3.000 men, including Theobald Wolfe Tone tries to unload in the Comté of Donegal close to Lough Swilly. They are intercepted by a broad British squadron, and finally go after a three hours battle without to have unloaded with ground.
