Fortune of France is a fresco historical in 13 volumes written by Robert Merle and published of 1977 until its death in 2004.
The account extends from 1547 with 1661. The first part (the first 6 volumes) is described through the eyes of Pierre de Siorac, character fictitious, noble with the cour. The second part, through those of his/her son, Pierre-Emmanuel.
Robert Merle did not like Louis XIV and always announced that he would not propose with his avid readers of accounts being held under the reign of this one. As by a fact of the chance, in last volume, the saga of Pierre-Emmanuel ceases in 1661, year of died of the cardinal Mazarin, whereas the king, old 23 years, will begin his effective reign. And Robert Merle is little deceased of time after the publication of this ultimate work.
