History

The gymnastic company Fortitudo opens a section baseball in 1953. In 1963 the section gains its autonomy. In 1969 Fortitudo obtains its first sponsor with Amer Montenegro, like its first title of champion of Italy. Under the presidency of Lamberto Lenzi of 1972 with 1982 the club obtains several successes: champion of Italy in 1972 and 1974, and gains the cut of Italy and Europe in 1973 cuts it. The beginning of the Années 1980 is rather disappointing for the club which faces the retirement of its champions. The training of young players bears nevertheless its fruits because Fortitudo becomes champion of Italy in 1984, then champion of Europe in 1985. The club knows then a rather dull period, and retrogresses even in A2 series in 1995. But in 1997 the team becomes champion of Italy of this division and gains the cut of Italy, which enables him to play in the first division in 1998. This year it finishes in medium of classification, and almost succeeds in being qualified for Play-off the following year. The following year Fortitudo finishes fifth of the regular season, then qualifies for the final stages in 2001, but fails in semi-final. In 2002 the team is joined by Dave Sheldon and Claudio Liverziani, two players of Telemarket Rimini. Qualified for the plays-off, the team fails vis-a-vis Nettuno. For its fiftieth anniversary in 2003 the club makes a success of its season: champion of Italy after a final against Ricambi Modena (4-1), it seizes the cut of Italy. The season 2004 is brilliant, but the club manages neither to preserve its titles, nor to seize the cut of Europe. However it gains the supercoupe of Italy. It is the following year which he becomes again champion of Italy. In 2006 the team loses in semi-final of the championship vis-a-vis Telemarket Rimini (4-2).
