Fortifications of Florence

The fortifications of Florence ( Walled di Firenze in Italian) is the old defensive crown of the town of Florence.

History

Created at the same time as the city, six different layouts are counted, which is completed with half of the 16th century. The walls of the northern part of Arno of the city were cut down in the course of the 19th century to create the ring roads, by leaving only the access doors, while the southern parts and the zone in Oltrarno, are still visible and are well preserved.
