Forties
Forties is largest oil Gisement ever found in brittanic water of the the North Sea. He was discovered in 1970 by BP in the central sector of the North Sea (GPS: 0° 52' E 57° 44' NR), at the beginning of the vagueness as impressive as transitory of great oil discoveries in this country. The layer was put in production with four platforms (a fifth was added in 1987). At the end of the years 1970, the layer produced some 500 kbbls /j.
In 2003, the layer, dying man (the production were not any more but of 40 kbbls/j) was resold in Apache Corporation, an average producer American. This transfer was perceived like the beginning of a disengagement of the majors of the North Sea (growing old oil area) with the profit of smaller companies. However, there actually was only one handle of resales of the kind since. Apache managed to double the production by a series of new wells.
The cumulated production is of 2.5 Gbbls approximately. There remain some 150 Mbbls of proven reserves, value that Apache hopes to extend appreciably. More half of oil initalement in place (estimated at 5 Gbbls) will thus be recovered.
