Formariage
Under the terms of this right of formariage (or for-marriage ), the serfs could contract marriage only with one subject of the Seigneurie, with less permission of the lord; this in order to avoid the depopulation.
The formariage is the right paid to the lord, at the time of the marriage, of a serf out of the seigniory or with a free person of condition.
This right almost disappeared in the two centuries preceding the Révolution by 1789.
