Monseigneur Paul-Ernest-Anastase Forget was the first bishop of the Diocèse of Saint-Jean-of-Quebec, in the province of Quebec, with the Canada. Its first name comes from Saint Anastase. He was the son of Léandre Forget and Éléonore Lespérance. Born the July 12th 1885 with Saint-François-of-Dirty, today a district of Laval, it is ordered priest the June 29th 1910. He was professor then director of the Collège of the Assumption in the Diocèse of Joliette of 1910 with 1912 and of 1921 with 1933. He obtains a doctorate in philosophy. In 1933, it is general Vicaire with the catholic Action. He is the author of a Précis of Histoire of Canada and of a Histoire of the College of the Assumption .

He was named bishop by Pie XI the May 12th 1934, and its consecrator was the archbishop Andrea Cassulo, of Turkey. In 1937, it blesses the new installations of Radio-Canada. It is at the origin of the administration Franciscain E of the parishes of its area. Monseigneur Forget, in dialog with the mayor Paul Pratt of Longueuil, helped with the creation of the traditional Externat of Longueuil , become the Collège Edouard-Montpetit. He was not highly skilled bishop, because he is remained in station until his death the February 3rd 1955. He was priest during nearly forty-five years. Its episcopate, inspired by the Cardinal Verdier with Paris, increased the number of churches and parishes: they are the “Building sites of Good Pasteur”, initiated the very same day Fête of Good Pasteur. These many parishes are now in regression. Its successor is Gerard-Marie Coderre.

The objects having belonged to him are available to the museum of the Cocathédrale Saint-Antoine-to-Padoue. There was a college Anastase-Forget with Saint-Lambert which closed in 1990. The school Bruno-Choquette, with Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, was named in its honor before 1976. The big city of Brossard failed to be named Forgetville, but unionistic the Prime Minister Maurice Duplessis chose to support the current name.
