A false is a manual Outil used in Agriculture and in Jardinage to mow the Herbe and to collect the Céréale false S. It is made of a long blade frayed (60 to 90 cm) and arched, perpendicularly fixed on a relatively long handle (140 to 160 cm) provided with two handles, one with middle height and the other at the end opposed to the blade.

History

The scythe appeared about the 12th century in France. Initially used to cut grass, it replaced the Faucille for the harvest of cereals only as from the 16th century. Its use strongly regressed since the mowing appearance of the S mechanics then combine harvesters.

Use

Mowing requires a specific training; it is carried out by a regular swinging of the two arms all while maintaining the blade quite horizontal with the desired height.

The reaper must frequently sharpen its blade, using for that a hammer and small a anvil named enclumette, then a stone to be sharpened arranged in a case with stone with forgery or whetstone sheath.

The engine scythe

The scythe or reaper with two-stroke engine generally uses a fuel made up of oil and unleaded gas. It is useful all the year to mow grasses and the vegetation of the garden.
