Synopsis

Baker jack, young person and American university brilliance, unload in Tahiti to write one énième biography of Paul Gauguin. But its good resolutions are not long in being put at evil by the charms of this enchanter place. Without counting the intrusion in its existence of uncommon character, the malicious one and exasperating Cohn, swindler, robber and mythomaniac, well-known - for their misfortune - inhabitants of the island. Ryckmans, the chief of the local police, curiously seems to close the eyes on the multiple escapades and drinking bouts of this calamitous parasite, salaried person, in addition, by a tour operator to play the descendants of Gauguin. And although it is not easily deceived at all impostures of Cohn, Baker tests soon fascination for this arrogant and cynical clown, who does not release it more than one sole.
