Forests of Quebec

The vast majority (90,5%) of the Forêt S of the Quebec are of public property. The forests recover more half of the Québécois territory, that is to say 757.900 km ².

The Québécois forest field extends on seven degrees from latitude; it is not thus astonishing to find there three large bioclimatic zones extremely different. Most Scandinavian of these zones east that of the Coniferous northern forest of S, which covers 73,7% of forest Quebec. It contains almost only fir trees balsam trees, virginal S black and white, pine S gray and Mélèze S. only the Feuillu S which grow there are the Bouleau with paper, the Peuplier false-trembles and the Peuplier balsam tree.

The northern forest is followed, in the south, of the southernmost frank wood forest, dominated by leafy trees. Most abundant are the maple with sugar, the yellow Bouleau and the Hêtre; one finds there also Cerisier S late, Tilleul S, three species of Chêne S, three of Frêne S, two of Caryer S, three other maple species and two of poplars.

The forests of the south contain also certain resinous gasolines, the such pines white and red, the pruche and the Thuya. The species which grow in this zone are longévives than the gasolines characteristic of the northern forest and they reach greater dimensions.
