Forest of the Hague

The forest of the Hague is a vast main forest, approximately 10.000 ha (of which 6.500 of national forest), located on an active plate of Toul at Nancy, He is regarded as the green lung of the agglomeration nancéienne since located at the doors of the city.

It develops on the calcareous plate of the Hague, in a loop of the the Moselle. Since 1937, urbanization at tiny room its surface of approximately 1.000 ha. During the Storm Lothar of 1999, 2000 ha of trees were swept.

Forestry development

Filling of the funds of Toul

Before 1705, on the road of Nancy with Toul, crossed forest of the Hague was perilous because of the brigands. One even says that the duke Leopold was victim of an attack there, which led it to build a lifting of with dimensions of Nancy, to raise the road compared to the underwoods.
