Forest of Rocked

The forest of Rocked extends to the south the Mans in the department from the the Sarthe, mainly on the communes of Large-Lucé the, Saint-March-with Outillé, Jupilles, Pruillé-l' Éguillé. It is one of the jewels of the forests of France for the quality of its oaks.

From a surface of approximately 5.400 hectares, it extends on 15 kilometers from length and 10 kilometers broad. It is in majority made up of leafy trees, Chêne S, Hêtre S and Bouleau X and of pines woodland.

Remarkable places

  • the source of the hermitière , is the central point of the forest with the " Boppe" oak; and the fountain To sew it.

History

  • royal Forest at the 14th century, it was an important source of raw materials in the naval construction and the manufacture of pieces of furniture for the quality of its wood of beech and its oaks.
