The national forest of Notre-Dame (2200 hectares), generally called “Notre-Dame Wood”, is a main forest of the Parisian east. It constitutes one of the most important solid masses of the Parisian crown and takes part largely in the “green belt” of the Parisian Banlieue.

For this reason, the Information system strategic plan of the area Ile-de-France (SDRIF. from 1994) a prohibition enacted to build in its edges, until a distance of 50 meters.

It borders the commune of Lésigny in the East and it comprises, thanks to its faunistic and floristic richnesses, a great number of ZNIEFF (natural Zone of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest).

This forest unit is made up mainly of Chêne S stalk-sessile. The underwoods protect a score from ponds (many Batracien S, reptiles) presenting a state of conservation precarious and indexed in ZNIEFF of type1

Its frequentation has increased for 20 years, in particular, after with her installation. On the commune, there exist today nine pedestrian access points to Wood Notre-Dame and it is crossed by part of the way of great excursion n° 14.

These actions largely took part in the frequentation and with discovered Forêt and they were accompanied by the installation of surfaces of reception and parking. Panels of information and indication (pedestrian, cyclist and riding) were set up to facilitate the access of them.
