Fangorn, which wants to say Barbe of Tree, is an old forest located at the west of the Royaume of Rohan, at the south-eastern end of the Misty Monts in the valley of the Anduin. It is the remainder of a large forest which covered all Eriador and part of the Beleriand. The river Onedlò, “Entwash” in English (sindarine translation of the name), takes his source there. Fangorn is inhabited by the Ents and bears its name because of the principal guard and older of them: Sylvebarbe (“silva” meaning “Latin forest”), called “Fangorn” or “Treebeard” (“tree” meaning tree, and “beard” bores) in the english language version.
