Forest and zoological park of Hann

The forest and zoological Parc of Hann (PFZH) is a natural reserve of the Senegal located at Dakar, on the common of district of Hann Beautiful-Air.

History

The park is created in 1903 by the Governor Martial Merlin. It is initially about a public garden as well as seedbed, as one opened some then in AOF.

Organization

The whole of the park extends on approximately 60 hectares. It includes/understands the classified forest and a traditional zoo of invoice.

The forest park

Place of relaxation and of discovered in the middle of the capital, it includes/understands in particular a Arboretum , a botanical square, a fruit-bearing square, a seedbed, floors turfed, adventure playgrounds and an aquarium.

Zoological gardens

The surface of the zoo is of seven hectares, including four arranged with cages, pits, enclosures or birdcages.

In 2002 one counted 134 boarders there, in particular Gazelle S, Zébu S, Oryx, Hyène S, Phacochère S, monkeys, its Lion S, Crocodile S, like various birds, in particular of the marabout S and the Calao S.
