Foreign politics of Greece

The foreign politics of the Greece is dominated by the relations with the close Turkey, with which it remains the different ones on the layout from the border in the Aegean Sea and the illegal occupation of Cyprus, the relations with the ARYM with which the disagreement on the use of the name “Macedonia” remains.

Greece is member of the Francophonie. For this reason, since end 2005, the new site of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Greece is completely available in French (in addition to the Greek and the English).

Finally the Greek minister of the foreign affairs diversifies its activities while turning to the Balkans, the European Union and the rest of the world. The ministry has also a department dedicated to the Greek Diaspora in the world.

From 2004 to 2006, the Greek Foreign Minister was Petros G. Molyviatis. Since the February 14th 2006 it is Dora Bakoyannis which assumes this station.
