Forecast (medicine)

See also: Forecast

In Medicine, the forecast (of the Greek old πρόγνωσις, modern Greek πρόγνωση - literally to know in advance, to envisage ) is a term which indicates the prediction by the Médecin of the progress of the disease of the patient, and its possible chances of cure. Since the 20th century, the word is used more and more in not-medical contexts.

Let us note that it is frequent to confuse the forecast (name) with forecasts (adjectival), used, for example, in the prognostic value of an examination .
