Football world cup of 1930

The first Football world cup is held in 1930 in Uruguay. The players of the “Celestial ”, double holding of the Olympic title, gain in residence the Cut Jules Rimet finally by asserting 4-2 vis-a-vis the Argentine.

The competition

The first World cup was the only one which did not envisage a qualificative phase, the teams “being invited” to dispute the new trophy. Argentina delegates six steamers of supporters, but not only one Argentinian revolver will not enter the finished stage of the centenary.

The players of Celestial the then were generally affublés of nicknames such as: Héctor Scarone el Mago , el Magico , el Héctor , el Gardel del Futbol , el mejor jugador LED mundo ; Jose Nasazzi el Gran Mariscal , el Terrible , el Gran Capitan ; Jose Andrade Maravilha Négra , Tejera ; Jose ECA el Vasco ; Santos Urdinarán el Vasquito ; Pedro Petrone Perucho ; Héctor Castro el Manco ; Alvaro Gestido el Caballero de Deporte ; Angel Romano el Loco ; Pedro Arispe el Indio ; Santos Iriarte el Canario ; Lorenzo Fernández Gallego , Ernesto Mascheroni Tío …; Ballestero was the successor of Andrés Mazali in cages.
Auparavant, Andrade finally embarking in extremis on the boat on the way for Olympiads 1928 of Amsterdam, Eduardo Martínez became as for him el Olímpico 23 , without official attribution within the Celestial one.
