Fontenay-sous-Bois is a French city located in the suburbs Is of Paris, in northern edge of the Bois of Vincennes. Fontenay-sous-Bois east one of the last municipalities of Union of the Left, directed by a communist mayor of the Parisian crown.

It is structured by a hill which mainly composes it and created a juxtaposition of districts of which the unit is difficult to realize (Fontenay-wood, the plate, the old city, the rigollots, the valley…). This town planning led to great contrasts of populations according to the districts: from the very middle-class houses which are next to the Wood of Vincennes to the district of Larris which forms a vertical city.

The current Maire is Jean-François Voguet senator of the the Valley-of-Marne

The preceding mayor was Louis Bayeurte (PCF) (of 1965 to 2001).

Fontenay-sous-Bois is divided into two cantons included in the Arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Marne:

• the Canton of Fontenay-under-Wood-Is account 25  545 inhabitants;
• the Canton of Fontenay-under-Wood-West account 25  376 inhabitants.

A census is currently carried out in the city. The population there is stable of number but grows rich following the blaze of the real estate.

Valley of Fontenay

The district of the Valley of Fontenay is a little like a new city in the middle of Fontenay-sous-Bois, offset in the East, bordering with the communes on Rosny-sous-Bois, Neuilly-Pleasure, Montreuil-sous-Bois, Nogent-sur-Marne and Perreux on Marne . It was a whole of district characterized by an urban concentration much denser than in the old districts of the city. Born from the urban development of the Parisian Suburbs in the years 1970-1980, the Valley of Fontenay was established on the site low of the Town of Fontenay-sous-Bois, which was an agricultural space in which celebrates it potato " was cultivated; The Beautiful one of Fontenay". Since, much things changed, and agricultural space was transformed into a space of dwellings with high density, as well as a whole of retail parks, artisanal and industrial. The district has a large architectural variety, around a collective habitat organized by small units.

In the film It Bang 2, the two young people in love taking bus 118 with the Door with Vincennes and are found in spite of them in the industrial park of Valley of Fontenay.

Public transport

• Two stations of the RER has are in this city: Fontenay-sous-Bois and Valley of Fontenay. The second is also served by the RER E, the SNCF like by the suburban trains Transilien and the FOR THE THIRD TIME bound for Coulommiers, the Ferté-Left-handed person or Provins.

• lines of bus 116,118,122,124,127,301 and 524 (the Shuttle of Fontenay) of the RATP as well as line 33-005 and line 702 Express train of the company of the Bus of the Fort.
• prolongation of the Line 1 of the subway of Paris of the subway to Rigollots and Val of Fontenay east registered in new SDRIF adopted at the District council on February 16th, 2007. The realization is planned for 2014. (). Moreover, line 1 of the subway the RATP with its workshop of maintenance on the commune of Fontenay-sous-Bois, in the district of Rigollots, street Rousseau. It is also in these workshops that are carried out all the maintenance actions on the systems of brakes of all the park of tyred subways of the RATP
