Folkestone
Folkestone is an English city, at the edge of the English Channel. It is close to Dover. Since the creation of the Channel tunnel, the city has the appearance of a main door of the the United Kingdom.
History
Ancient time
Archaeological excavations made it possible to exhume a cemetery of the first century of our era with Cheriton, in the west of the city.In the years 1920, a Landslide close to put Eastern cliff has naked the vestiges of a Roman villa. The Middle Ages
However, the name of Folkestone-in-Kent appears only at the 7th century century under the name of Folcanstan , or Folca hones it. The name of Eanswythe thereafter joined the parish church co.s Marie and Eanswythe. Its relics are supposed to be preserved there.

The accession with the throne of Edouard the Confessor in 1042 was only one less respite before the destroying attacks of the Count Gavin de Wessex. These raids are explained as a revenge on this last against the partisans of the king who had exiled it.
William the Conqueror began the catch of England in 1066 with the battles of Hastings, close to Folkestone.
