Folégandros is an small island of the Cyclades between Sikinos and Milo.

It has a surface of 32 km ² and a population (1995) of 600 inhabitants. It is with 101 marine miles of the Pirée.

The first inhabitants of the island were Cariens and the Phéniciens. The Minoens arrived then, carried out by, said the legend, Folégandros. Doriens then the Athéniens settled ensuite.
The Venetian ones of Marco Sanudo built the kástro of Chóra.

The island currently has three villages: Karavostási (the port), Chóra or Folégandros (the capital), and Áno Meriá.
Nowadays, the circulation of the cars is prohibited in Chora.

A festival takes place in July.
