Flyers of Niagara Falls

Two franknesses bore the name of Flyers of Niagara Falls and the two franknesses played in the Association of hockey of the Ontario (today Ontario Hockey League ) and the two teams played in the same skating rink Niagara Falls Memorial Arena. The first team played of 1960 to 1972 and the second of 1976 to 1982. The two franknesses were both the property of the family Emms

History

Flyers of Niagara Falls east one of the rare franknesses to have to gain on several occasions the Cut Memorial and they carried out this performance twice at Niagara Falls and twice with Barrie. They also gained the Coupe J. Ross Robertson as a winner of the eliminatory Séries of the OHA with 3 recoveries.

The Emms family sold Flyers in 1972 after twelve seasons and the new owners then moved the frankness Sudbury.

Later, same the annéee, the Emms family decided to buy the Blackhawks de Saint-Catharines champions in title of the OHA. Four years after Emms decide to move the frankness at Niagara Falls (1976). The frankness takes the same name then that the first fois.
La Emms family will sell Flyers for the second time in 1978.

In 1982, the new owner moves the frankness with North Bay then later with Saginaw.

Cut Memorial 1963

The team gained the right to play for the Cut after having eliminated Neil McNeil Maroons from Toronto finally of the championship from the OHA then the Eagles d' Espanola and gained thus the Trophée George Richardson rewarding the representative for the Canadian east for the Cut.

The adversary of Flyers was then the Oil Kings d' Edmonton in a series with best of the seven matches. The matches proceeded on the glacec Edmonton, the Arena Gardens.

First Cut Memorial of the team.

Cut Memorial 1968

Flyers gained the right to play the Cut Memorial after having eliminated the Maple Leafs de Verdun for the championship from the east of Canada.

The opponent in Flyers was then the Bruins d' Estevan and thus, two franknesses afiiliées with the same frankness from the LNH were to meet. The matches took place on the ice of Bruins put aside the match n°2 which took place with the Forum of Montreal. The match n°4 was the longest match of the history of the Cut Memorial. It will have lasted on the whole eight prolongations.
