Fluviatile Blennie

The fluviatile blennie is a fish which lives in fresh water in the méridoniale part of the France. Its northern limit is the Lac of Annecy.

  • Origin of the name: of the Greek “blenna” what means mucus.

  • Description: the body is lengthened. It measures from 8 to 12 cm. It is of color brown-green, its sides being yellow-green with black spots. The dorsal fin is very long. The skin without scales is viscous.
  • Habitat: in water of the lakes, channels and slow brooks with stones, rollers and rocks.
  • Lifestyle: young person, it lives as a group, adult, it is territorial.
  • Food: carnivore, its jaws are equipped with powerful teeth.
  • Reproduction: from April at June.
